The smartphones demand has been significantly increased after the introduction of 3G and 4G technology in Pakistan. During the last fiscal year, the worth of 63 crore dollars mobile phones were imported. According to the Federal Bureau of statistics, the mobile phone imports set another milestone during fiscal year 2014 and 11.6 percent increase in it and their worth was 63 crore dollars. Last year on the import of the mobile, 56 crore and 40 lac dollars were spent. According to the statistics department, the number of users have been reduced from 13 crore and 56 lac to 11 crore 54 lac after bio-metric Sim authentication system.
