Facebook has introduced high speed Android app Facebook Lite in countries with slow internet speed that consume very low data. Product manager of Facebook Lite Vijay Shankar told in interview that currently, this app is available in Asia and it will also be launched soon in Latin America, Africa and Europe. This app is targeted for those countries, unlike developed countries, where the majority people still use slow speed 2G network. Shankar told that he wants to give an opportunity to the people so they can enjoy fully from Facebook in spite of slow Internet speed. People will easily access news feeds, status updates, notifications and photos through this app but other features of the Facebook are not available like videos and advance locations. The purpose of this app is to spread scope of Facebook in the world’s emerging markets. Facebook Chief Mark Zuckerberg was announced the internet.org platform with the help of six technology partners. The purpose of this platform is to provide free internet access for those 4.5 billion people who do not access the internet.
