Government should give FIA on Contract: Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court conducted a hearing on funding of FIA case. In court FIA Director told to Supreme Court that FIA requested to Federal Government an amount of 11 Million for prosecution on which Federal Government provided them only 1.5 Million.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of Pakistan’s Director, told to Supreme Court that they requested to release funding to FIA, in order to prosecute the cases, but funds provided by Federal Government are not according to their requirement. He said that Federal Government released only 1.5 Million, whereas they demanded for the amount of 11 Million. As per Supreme Court’s remarks, in which Court has disliked the attitude of Federal Government and said that if Government has no funds for FIA that they should give it on Contract.

A case was heard by Justice Jawad S. Khawaja and Justice Aijaz Afzal. Court has ordered to submit report from concerned officials to further elaborate the statement given by Director FIA. Court said that, if a report found to be unsatisfactory, that the court will seek Interior Secretary to explain the situation.
