ISLAMABAD: Finally, after 68 years, Government of Pakistan has recognized a difference between ‘Halal’ and ‘Haram’. Government has decided to introduce a Halal (Lawful) Authority Bill).
Government of Pakistan has prepared a bill, in which government has imposed a penalty of upto Rs. 1 Million and one can be jailed for a period of 1 year as well. Drafts have been sent to the active committee to consider the bill. On approval of bill, Draft will be presented in National Assembly. Once Bill is approved, eatables which are imported from outside can be termed Haraam (Prohibited).
The authority will be constituted on 16 member governors and its president will be Federal Minister for Science and Technology. The board will have religious affairs minister and other ministers of federal and provincial assemblies. Scholars and its institution will be built, in order to handle such kind of issues. A Director General of institution will be its Chief Executive.
