India defeated Sri Lanka in second test match by 278 runs and level the series by 1-1. Sri Lanka lost second test match against India and star batsman Kumar Sangakara has reached the end of his international career. The target of 413 runs in the second innings was given to the Sri Lankan team by India but Sri Lankan whole team was out on just 134 runs. India scored 393 runs in the first innings of the second test while Sri Lanka scored 306 runs in the first inning. India declared the second inning at 325 runs for eight wickets and set target of 413 runs to win. Spin bowler Ashwin has played a significant role in the Indian’s victory. He took 5 wickets for 42 runs in second innings while in the first innings his bowling spell was 2 wickets for 76 runs. In the first innings of the India, Rahul scored 108, Kohli 78, Sharma 79 and Saha 56, the Indian team was able to add total of 393 runs. Parsad, Mathews and Chameera took 2 wickets each whereas Herat showed excellent bowling with 4 wickets. The Sri Lankan whole team were out on 306 runs. J.K Silva scored 51 runs, Thermane 62 and Mathews 102 from Sri Lankan side. Mishra took 4 wickets, Sharma and Ashwin took 2 wickets each whereas Yadav and Binny took took 1 wicket each. India were bowled out at 325 runs in the second innings. Vijay scored 82, Rahane 126 and Sharma 34 runs from Indian side.
