ISLAMABAD: Privatization Commission of Pakistan has authorized to Ministry of Water and Power to fill vacant jobs within WAPDA’s distributing companies.
WAPDA will start their recruitment on the vacant positions after Eid. Sources told that LESCO, FESCO, IESCO, KESCO, JESCO, MESCO and PEPCO etc has around 1 lac positions which are still vacant. Most of the positions are for Meter Readers. Due to the shortage in Human Resource, WAPDA officials were unable to fulfil their responsibilities. Privatization Commission banned any kind of recruitment in these companies due to Privatization of these companies, but now Chairman Privatization Commission has wrote a letter to Ministry of Water and Power, in which the commission has authorized to the ministry to fil the vacant positions within the distributing companies of WAPDA.
Sources from Ministry of Water and Development has confirmed the news, that the Ministry has received authorization to recruit new people within WAPDA. The recruitment process will be started after Eid. For the purpose, a summary has been sent to Prime Minister Secretariat. After Eid, the vacant positions will be announced through local newspapers, whereas the recruitment has been claimed to be based on Merit.
