Australia Bans Females’ Cricketer For Betting On Match Series

MELBOURNE: Australia has banned female´s cricketer Piepa Cleary for 6 months, with another eighteen months suspended, for deploying bets on a males’ test match between the countries Australia and New Zealand in the month of November.

The 19-year-old Cleary, who plays for Western Australia State, had deployed 6bets totalling A$15.50 ($11.10) on the match at Adelaide Oval.

“CA has enforced a 24-month period of ineligibility on Cleary of which eighteen months are suspended on situation that she devotes no further offences under the (Anti-Corruption) Code,” Cricket Australia claimed in a media release on the day of Thursday.

“She is also needed to engage in anti-corruption player education programs delivered by CA in coming years.”

“The penalty bans Cleary from entire domestic and international cricket, involving cricket-related functions and occasions.”
