Shahdadpur: The Magnificent City of Sindh

Shahdadpur (Sindhi: شهدادپور‎) is a impressive city in Sindh, Pakistan. It is situated at 27°51’N and 67°64’E. The ancient city of al-Mansura is located over 19 kilometer south-east of Shahdadpur. The tombs of Sohni and Mahiwal, from the Sohni Mahiwal story, are situated in and near to the city; the tomb of Sohni is near to the proposed city whilst that of Mehinwal is in the centre point of this city. Shahdadpur has 4 union councils. It is believed to be one of the big cities of district Sanghar. Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (whose tomb is over 10 kilometer from Shahdadpur in Bhit Shah) immortalized their love through his influential poetry specifically in the context of passion and love. History of Shahdadpur 

In a recent research, Dr. N.A. Baloch, a notable historian, scholar and ex-Vice-Chancellor of Sindh University has showed that Mir Shahdad Khan, Son Of Rasheed Khan discovererd the cty of Shahdadpur during the years of 1125A.H.-1128A.H (1713-1715). In the year 1116A.H (1704) Mir Shahdad Khan is known to be as “Riffat Panah” meaning His Eminence. The document indicates that Mir Shahdad Khan not just had barren lands cultivated but also offered protection and security to the persons by ridding the place of dacoits (thieves). He developed latest norms for the sharing of produce between the tillers and owners. Mir Shahdad Khan had historical canals and waterways reconstructed and also extended them. He had modern canals dug as well and that was how he developed the contemporary settlement of Shahdadpur.

Individuals living in the city of Shahdadpur belong to different communities and races like  MUGHAL, Unar, Rind, Bughio, Khaskheli, Laghari, Nizamani Talpur, Chohan, Wassan, Abbasi, Pathan, Chandio, Soomro, Dal, Lakha, Sand, Abra, Khosa, detha, Quershi, Sarhandi Pir, Sindh, memon, Surhia, Dahri, Brohi, Jamali, Arain Lashari. Rajput, Magsi, Syed, Zardari and various other Sindh and Punjabi communities. The persons living in the city are Sindhi 60 percent speaking and Urdu Speaking and Punjabi Speaking are 30 percent and other 5 percent are different languages while the large number of Sindh and Pashto speaking people live in the villages near to this magnificent city. The huge number of Punjabi speakers also lives in the surrounding villages. Shahdadpur and many more hindus live in as rajwani, deewan, bheel, menghwar, sajwani, mehraj since the from the year 1947 the population is 2,435,800
