The Famous Kotri Barrage of Sindh

Kotri Barrage is located over three miles in the North of Hyderabad City in the province if Sindh, Pakistan. The proposed project was sanctioned some months before the dawn of independence in the year 1947. The immense head works and other tasks were completed in the year 1955, and the left bank no perennial canals got much weir controlled and managed supplies the similar year while Akram wah (Perennial) was conducted and made operational in the year 1958. On the side of Right Bank, 1single canal, Kalri Bagar Feeder off takes and it began functioning for the very 1st time in the year 1958.

4 feeder canals, 3 on the left and 1 on the right bank of River Indus off-take from this established Barrage and give assured Irrigation water supplies for a place of 3.0 million acres. The feeder on the right, known as, Kalri Bagar Feeder has a distinctive designed where the Keenjhar Lake makes the primary Part of the canal system. The Kalri Bagar Feeder upper puts its clear water at the Northern end of beautiful lake called as Keenjhar Lake, whereas the intended Kalri Bagar Feeder draws its supplies from the Southern end of the Lake at the area of Chillya. This Feeder fives Irrigation supplies to an area which is partly formulated to get perennial supplies and partly seasonal supplies. It is an enormous sources of perennial water supplies for the Metropolis of the city Karachi.

Because of humid climate, Kotri Barrage command place is most complimented for the crops of sugar-cane and Banana and both these crop place indicating an ever increasing trend.
