Last month it was feared about Pakistani cricket team that perhaps they could not play ICC champions trophy in England next year. After three consecutive success of Bangladesh in one day series, the possibility has been increased. All fears are allayed with the success in one day series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan has qualified as the last team to participate in 8 nation Champions trophy. ICC Champions trophy will be played last time next year. International Cricket Council ICC has decided 3 years ago to end Champions trophy for the test world cup 2017. It will be decided according to the world ranking for the test championship. Till December 2016, top 4 teams will qualify for the test championship 2017. Test Championship was first decided to hold in 2014 but due to financial difficulties, ICC Champions trophy was already ended but it was decided to reorganize again in 2016. Pakistan is currently ranked on the third position. Pakistan has to play a test series against England in UAE in October and November while the series against India in December is not yet confirmed. The Pakistan chances are brighter to qualify for the test championship. Australia and South Africa are on the first and second position with 130 and 111 points. New Zealand, India and England are vigorously struggling with 97, 97, 99 points. Sri Lank and West Indies are almost out of the competition. The eight teams for Champions trophy in England next year are; Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh and Pakistan and these positions has been designed by ICC’s latest ranking. Perhaps, Pakistan’s position will become better than Bangladesh after the tri series against West Indies and Zimbabwe.
