ISLAMABAD: Earlier Provincial Governments within Pakistan imposed different sales tax on usage of Internet. Now after Provincial Government, Federal Government of Pakistan has also imposed a new tax for the usage of Internet within Pakistan.
Federal Government of Pakistan during the budget 2015-16 has imposed a new Tax on Internet Surfers. Now Internet surfers in Pakistan will pay 14% Advance Tax on internet usage within Pakistan. By adding of this tax, people within Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will pay a tax duty of 32% – 33.5% on internet usage.
According to sources, Federal Government of Pakistan has imposed around 14% Advance Tax on Internet surfing. The tax will be deducted from monthly bills of Telephone lines. The tax will be deducted from Internet Prepaid Cards as well. This 14% advance tax on Internet usage will be adjustable. Provincial Governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh are already charging a tax of 18% – 19.5% in lieu of Sales Tax. After addition of 14% Advance Tax, internet surfers will now be paying a total tax of 32% – 33.5% on internet usage.
